About Me

Amrita Diwanji is a professional photographer with a passion for weaving stories through her food and beverage photography. She has recently moved to London after almost a decade of working in India with leading food, product and hospitality brands including Conde Nast Traveller, the Taj group and Singapore Airlines. Her work for Action Against Hunger has been rolled out at Waitrose stores across the UK. She has also worked with successful industry disrupters like Pasta Evangelists, and produced photography assets for seed funding campaigns that have raised in excess of £200,000.

Prior to her move to the UK in November 2021, Amrita’s photographs have featured in various global publications including Vogue, Conde Nast Traveler, Design Anthology, Elle Décor, Forbes, The Huffington Post, and The Times of India. She was awarded ‘Commended Place’ at the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year Award in 2021, 2019, and 2017 under the categories of ‘InterContinental London Park Lane Food at the Table’, ‘Champagne Taittinger Wedding Food Photographer’ and ‘World Food Programme Food for Life’ respectively.

Amrita was born and raised in Bombay, India. Growing up in a country as culturally diverse as India, she was exposed to an abundance of regional cuisine and vibrant festivals from a very young age – the same vibrancy is visible in the colours and hues of her photographs today.

Photography has always played a significant role in Amrita’s life, even before she became a professional photographer. In 2012, she won the Lonely Planet London and KAYAK photo contests, both important milestones in the first steps of her journey. With a BSc. in Psychology from the University of York and an MSc. in HR Management from the London School of Economics, Amrita established a management consulting career across Paris, London and Bombay. However, sensing passions further afield, Amrita left the corporate world and launched Amrita Diwanji Photography in 2014. Armed with the commercial skills needed to run a business, coupled with her creative passion, she successfully established herself as one of Mumbai’s leading food photographers. Having recently moved to London, she now aspires to do the same as she further explores the UK market.

Unrelentingly fascinated by new people, places, cultures and food, Amrita has travelled and eaten her way around many countries - from Latvia to Norway, Peru to Italy, South Africa to Malta, Sri Lanka to Slovenia. Constantly inspired by her travels, her particular interest in food photography was cemented after a chance encounter and subsequent workshop with a leading food photographer from Lyon, France’s culinary capital.

Although passionate about food and travel, Amrita has also led numerous product campaigns, as well as portrait and interiors assignments. When she’s not behind the camera, Amrita can be found exploring parts of London she hasn’t seen before or cooking up a storm with her husband in their kitchen.
